Lucky Orange Alternatives in 2026, Compared Honestly
Lucky Orange bundles recordings, heatmaps, surveys and live chat in one plan. Here's what to use instead, depending on why you're looking.
Lucky Orange is popular with small stores because every plan includes every feature: dynamic heatmaps, session recordings, surveys and announcements, live chat, live visitor view, conversion funnels, and page and form analytics (pricing). People look for alternatives for a few common reasons: there's no free plan on its pricing page (just a 7-day free trial), plans are capped by monthly sessions, base data storage starts at 60 days, and its Discovery AI is an add-on on paid plans. Below are 6 alternatives, grouped by the reason you're looking.

Disclosure: We make Cortality, one of the products on this list. We've tried to be fair, and where another tool is the better choice, we say so.
First, what Lucky Orange costs today

If a Lucky Orange plan fits your traffic and you use the live chat, you may not need to switch.
TL;DR
- Best free alternative: Microsoft Clarity. Free forever, with no traffic limits, recordings and heatmaps (Clarity FAQ).
- Free plan with surveys and a paid upgrade path: Contentsquare, which now includes Hotjar. Its Free plan covers up to 200k sessions a month (pricing).
- Smaller paid tool with a free tier: Mouseflow.
- Heatmaps plus A/B tests: Crazy Egg.
- Product and engineering teams: FullStory or PostHog. Both have permanent free plans.

The alternatives, one by one
1. Microsoft Clarity: best free alternative
Best for: stores and small sites that mainly used Lucky Orange for recordings and heatmaps.
Clarity is "a free service forever" with no traffic limits and no paid upgrade (Clarity FAQ). It records sessions, builds click and scroll maps, and flags rage clicks, dead clicks and quick backs. On Shopify, Clarity shows purchase metrics, and checkout abandonment on Shopify Plus. Recordings are kept 30 days and heatmaps up to 9 months.
Watch out for: no live chat and no surveys listed in the FAQ. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland must consent; without it, sessions fragment and full replays aren't available.
2. Contentsquare (now includes Hotjar): free plan with surveys
Best for: teams that want surveys, funnels and a paid upgrade path.
Hotjar is now part of Contentsquare, and Hotjar sign-ups are closed; new users sign up for Contentsquare Free (source). The Free plan covers up to 200k sessions a month with 1 month of data, replays on 5% of sessions (max 10k) and basic surveys. Growth is $49/month paid monthly or $39/month paid yearly, with 13 months of data (pricing). Every new account starts with a 15-day Growth trial that doesn't ask for payment details.
Watch out for: replays are sampled on Free and Growth, and once you hit your session limit there's no new heatmap or funnel data until the monthly reset.
3. Mouseflow: a like-for-like swap with a free tier
Best for: small sites that want recordings, heatmaps and friction scoring without live chat.
Mouseflow has a Free plan (500 sessions a month) and paid plans at 39, 149 and 399 a month paid monthly (25, 109 and 319 a month paid yearly) for 5,000, 25,000 and 100,000 sessions, with data retention from 1 to 12 months by plan (pricing). It offers click, scroll, attention, movement and friction heatmaps, funnels and form analytics, and its 14-day trial doesn't ask for a credit card.
Watch out for: when you run out of sessions, "all tracking will stop until your next refill date" unless you request a refill or upgrade.
4. Crazy Egg: heatmaps plus A/B testing
Best for: marketers who want heatmaps and simple A/B tests in one tool, and have the traffic to test.
Crazy Egg has a free plan with web analytics, instant heatmaps, conversion analytics and surveys. Paid plans are Starter $29/month (5,000 tracked pageviews), Plus $99/month (150,000), Pro $249/month (500,000) and Enterprise $599/month (1,000,000), and "all plans are billed annually" (pricing). A/B testing starts on Plus.
Watch out for: paid plans are billed yearly, and Starter includes 50 recordings a month.
5. FullStory: product analytics depth
Best for: product and engineering teams.
Fullstory Free is a permanent free plan with 30,000 sessions a month and 12 months of data retention for up to 10 users, and it doesn't ask for a credit card (pricing). Business, Advanced and Enterprise are priced on request.
6. PostHog: the developer's all-in-one
Best for: developer-led SaaS teams.
PostHog's free allowance renews every month: 5K session recordings and 1M analytics events, plus surveys, feature flags and experiments (pricing). Pay-as-you-go charges only above the free limits, with billing limits you set yourself. Recordings are kept 1 month on the free plan and 90 days on pay-as-you-go.
7. Cortality: ranked fixes instead of footage
Best for: lead-gen sites, online stores and SaaS that want to know what to change, especially sites that can't run A/B tests to significance.
Cortality is not a heatmap, and it isn't a recording suite. One tag measures how real visitors use every part of your page: what they notice, where they stop and what they skip, for every headline, image, button and form field. You get a Fix List in order of impact. Each finding has four lines: what was measured, why it costs you, the exact change, and how it'll be proven. When you ship a fix, Cortality re-measures and gives a plain verdict: Improved, Worse, No change, or Not enough data yet.
- Example finding: "Only 1 in 14 visitors noticed the headline above this client's contact form."
- Example result: form reach went from 26% to 56% in one week. That's one client's measured result, and results vary (see a real finding).
- Privacy: no cookies, no keystrokes and no form values are collected (Trust Center).
- Pricing: Starter $99/month (2,500 visitors, 1 page), Growth $249/month (10,000 visitors, 3 pages, session viewer), Scale $499/month (25,000 visitors, 5 pages), Enterprise custom. Month to month, with no contract (pricing).
- Free first week: Start your free week and get your first report before any charge. You save a card at sign-up, and nothing is charged until 3 days after your first report, which comes once your page has 100 visitors. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. If there's no report by day 30, you're never charged. Any charge can be refunded within 14 days (refunds).
Not sure yet? Scan your page free. It takes about a minute, with no install needed. The free scan is a prediction of where visitors look, made by our attention model, plus an estimate of what fixing it is worth. The paid product measures real visitors.
Where it doesn't fit: Cortality has no live chat and doesn't replace a recordings suite. If you rely on Lucky Orange's chat or want to watch every session, keep a tool for that. Cortality is designed to work alongside it: recordings show what happened, and Cortality shows which part of the page caused it and what to change.
